Founded in 2008 by Scott Weiner & Greg Mohr

The Fifty/50 Group is comprised of a group of people who love food, like having fun, and believe that neighborhood hospitality is what makes where we live special. 

The group is responsible for creating several diverse restaurant and bar concepts across Chicago. Through hard work and innovation by the principals and partners, the group has developed, owned, or managed more than 25 brands and locations in its 17 year span.

The group was founded by Scott Weiner and Greg Mohr, who became great friends and coworkers in 2003 when they began working together with Lettuce Entertain You. In 2007, as Chicago was about to implement a smoking ban in bars and restaurants, the duo recognized an opportunity to bring higher quality food and service into a sports bar environment. With the opening of The Fifty/50 in Wicker Park, they found themselves at the forefront of Chicago’s growing restaurant and bar movement.

Since then, they’ve invested in growing neighborhoods and communities across Chicago to become fixtures with unique concepts such as Roots Pizza, Utopian Tailgate, West Town Bakery and more. Along with the company’s rapid growth, they’ve worked hard to build great company culture and infrastructure allowing them to maintain a high level of success and attention to detail.

The Fifty/50 Group has built a strong reputation for expertly managing intricate food, beverage, and entertainment operations at various hotels and theaters nationwide. In 2023, the group expanded its portfolio by developing and launching three OKAY Cannabis Dispensaries. These ventures were successfully sold in 2024 to Nature’s Grace and Wellness. Additionally, the group has a history of developing innovative concepts, such as Apogee, which were subsequently sold to third-party entities.
